چکیده

Virtual surgery simulation system is a typical application of virtual reality technology in the medical field. Firstly, in order to select a suitable way for real-time deformation and force feedback algorithm, after compared several classical numerical integration algorithm, we select the mid-point method as the deformation algorithm in this paper. The feedback force calculation is based on a spring-damper model. The total amount of the form variables of all virtual mass-spring in the system is the surface deformation of an object; the total amount of the forces of all virtual mass-spring equals to the contact force of the object surface. The algorithm is simple in the deformation process. It can also well meet the requirements of real-time interactive systems. Finally, a good virtual surgery simulation system must be able to give the operator with experience of synchronization of visual and tactile in the process of interaction. In this experimental system, we use OpenGL 3d graphics standard to draw and render visual model, at the same time, use Open Haptic packages to give haptic rendering. The PHANTOM force feedback device is used as a real-time interactive device. Finally, the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the system.

Deformation of Soft Tissue and Force Feedback Using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

We study the deformation and haptic feedback of soft tissue in virtual surgery based on a liver model by using a force feedback device named PHANTOM OMNI developed by SensAble Company in USA. Although a significant amount of research efforts have been dedicated to simulating the behaviors of soft tissue and implementing force feedback, it is still a challenging problem. This paper introduces a ...

Surface Contact and Reaction Force Models for Laparoscopic Simulation

In surgery simulation, most existing methods assume that the contact between a virtual instrument and a soft tissue model occur at a single point. However, there is a gross approximation when simulating laparoscopic procedures since the instrument shaft is used in several surgical tasks. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for modeling the collision response of a soft tissue when interact...

Simulating Haptic Feedback of Abdomen Organs on Laparoscopic Surgery Tools

Minimally invasive surgeries (MIS) such as laparoscopic procedures are widely used for many types of abdomen surgeries because of its numerous advantages over open surgeries. They require very high levels of skills of surgeons acquired through experience. The best and the safest way of getting hands on experience is the computer simulation or virtual reality (VR). The VR surgical simulators hav...
